Summary
Excavations in the 1960s on the Brewery site, partly overlapping area excavated by May 1895-1905 which he identified as roman defences. There were three phases of occupation in 2nd century AD, characterised by timber structures associated with industrial activity. Trenches were also dug to try and identify the supposed defences but no evidence was found.
