Summary

A number of skeletons laid E-W were found during at Burton Point when a causeway was being repaired in 1878. An entry in the Burton parish register dated 1637 may account for the interment. It states that 41 people were drowned. It is also possible that they might be of early Christian date, there being no later church nearby
